Travis County ARES

These are locations of interest for TCARES members. You should visit each page and become familiar with these locations. You may wish to print some of the results to carry with you as you deploy.

CTECC The Austin/Travis County combined emergency management operations center. The Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management  (formerly called OEM) web page is here.

Low Water Crossings These are City of Austin problem points where streets are subject to flooding due to creeks or drainage. They have railroad style crossing arms to keep motorists out of the water risk. The map is in several sections covering different areas of the city.

School Locations. These Major AISD and RRISD schools and public facilities have been used as either shelters or staging areas. See the Web Links page under Mapping Resources for additional detail on schools and street addresses.

Fire Department locations. These are fire stations, training areas and other sites from Austin Fire Department. Click on the word MAP at the top of the table for a locator map of these sites.

Staging Sites for Deployment   TCARES has used staging sites in the past to get HAMS into specific parts of the county before the actual assignments are given. You may want to print the map and keep it in your vehicle.
