Net Control Stations (NCS), please check the table above for your scheduled nights. You are backup NCS for the same week number for the month following the month you are scheduled for NCS duty, e.g. if you are NCS on the third week for even-numbered months, you are backup NCS on the third week for odd-numbered months.
Backup NCS: If your NCS does not start the net on-time, please fill your role and start the net and ask for another backup. If you’re one of the NCS operators and the scheduled and backup NCSs don’t appear, please fill in if you can.
Net Control Availability
If you won’t be available on your scheduled night, please warn (in advance) your backup NCS, or get one of the other experienced NCS to fill in.
Net Controller Recommended Setup
In order to serve as a Net Control Operator, TCARES recommends the following:
- 25W Mobile Radio (minimum)
- Gain Antenna
Then potential net controllers should have a (1) check into at least 3 out of 4 meetings per month, (2) submit 3 consecutive logs (see template below) with at least 95% accuracy, and (3) can transmit and receive on all repeaters with full quieting.
Log Submission Template
You only need to fill out time, callsign, band, and other notes if needed.
