The American Red Cross (Austin, TX Chapter) is one of our served agencies. The Assistant Emergency Coordinator – Red Cross serves as a liaison between the two agencies.
Red Cross: The local Red Cross building is currently under reconstruction (demolition may have begun today). We had a radio room + tower in the old building. We’ll get part of a room for radios + gear in the new building when it’s done ~2027. We also stored our Emergency Communications Trailer there, and will again outside the new building. A Red Cross pickup is one of the three we use as tow vehicles.
Assistant Emergency Coordinator – Red Cross, responsibilities include:
- Maintain a positive relationship between the Red Cross and TCARES.
- Be a certified driver for access to the Red Cross vehicles.
- Attend Red Cross DST meetings, share what’s happening with TCARES.
- Attend TCARES AEC meetings and provide updates with happenings with the Red Cross.

Assistant Emergency Coordinator – Red Cross must be a Red Cross volunteer with Group/Activity/Position (GAP) of Disaster Services Technology (DST)
